About this opportunity

Weston Public Schools is soliciting firm fixed-price bids through Invitation for Bids (IFB) for supplemental school bus maintenance services, with questions due November 20, 2026 at 3:00 PM EST and bids due November 25, 2026 at 3:00 PM EST. Bidders must be authorized or certified as a service facility for Thomas Built Buses or Blue Bird Body Company, be located within 35 driving miles of Weston, and have ten consecutive years of school bus or heavy-duty commercial vehicle maintenance experience. Bidders must also submit three professional references from public school districts, private bus contractors, or municipal fleet clients within the past five years.

The scope covers preventive maintenance, diagnostics, warranty, and corrective repair for the district's fleet of school buses (Types A through D), multifunction student activity buses, and passenger vans across gasoline, diesel, and electric powertrains. Work is performed off-site at the vendor's private commercial facility, and prevailing wage requirements do not apply. Lead technicians must hold active ASE Master School Bus Technician or ASE Master Heavy Duty Truck certifications, and drivers must hold a valid Commercial Driver's License Class A or B with Passenger and School Bus endorsements.

The estimated annual contract value is up to $35,000, or an estimated $105,000 over three years, and the district does not guarantee a minimum volume or full expenditure of the ceiling. The base term runs December 1, 2026 through November 30, 2027, with options to extend for up to two additional one-year periods at the district's sole discretion, not to exceed three consecutive years. The district will award up to two responsive and responsible bidders offering the lowest total evaluated bid price, designating one as Primary Vendor for routine and emergency work and one as Secondary Vendor for overflow or emergency situations. Anticipated award is November 30, 2026. Questions go to David Coelho, Director of Finance, at Coelhod@weston.org.
