About this opportunity
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) Division of Forest Resources is seeking an experienced reforestation contractor to plant 26,200 live, cold-dormant tree seedlings across approximately 36 acres in Fulton and Peoria Counties. The contractor must have a minimum of 15 acres of hardwood seedling planting experience within the last 5 years, own the necessary equipment, and have licensed pesticide applicators on staff. The seedlings must be planted between April 1 and May 15, 2023, with post-planting herbicide treatments completed by June 15, 2023. The contractor will be responsible for picking up the seedlings from the Mason County State Tree Nursery, transporting, handling, and storing them, and planting them at a density of 726 seedlings per acre. The project requires a final survival rate of at least 80% and weed control and suppression of at least 70% effective over 90% of the treated area. Invoices must be submitted electronically to IDNR by June 30, 2023.
The procurement opportunity does not appear to have any set-aside designations or restrictions on the types of organizations that can respond. No incumbent vendors or current contractors are listed. The total budget or award value is not specified, but the contractor will be invoiced for the work based on the planting and survival requirements. Vendors must comply with the state's Standard Certifications and follow the technical specifications provided for handling and planting the tree seedlings. COVID-19 protocols for contractors working in public facilities may also apply.
