About this opportunity

Calhoun Intermediate School District is soliciting sealed bids for HVAC system upgrades at its Administration Building in Marshall, Michigan, with bids due June 18, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. and a mandatory pre-bid meeting on June 9, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. The project must commence on or after July 1, 2026 and reach substantial completion and full commission before August 22, 2026.

The scope includes installation of a new hot water heating boiler with pumps, piping, and associated equipment; replacement of existing runout ductwork in poor condition; and modification of two existing rooftop electric multizone air conditioning units to integrate with the new hot water system. The system will use variable air volume terminal units with reheat capabilities throughout the building. The mechanical contractor serves as prime and must subcontract electrical and general trades work as needed. All work must comply with the 2021 Michigan Mechanical Code, 2023 Michigan Electrical Code, ASHRAE 90.1-2019, and NFPA standards.

The owner has pre-purchased the boiler, system pumps, expansion tank, air separator, automatic air vent, test and balance services, and Building Management System upgrades; contractors exclude use tax for these owner-provided items from their bids. The contract is awarded on a stipulated sum (fixed price) basis. Performance, labor, and material bonds equal to 100 percent of the bid sum plus a 5 percent bid bond must be included in the bid amount. Prevailing wage labor rates complying with the Federal Davis-Bacon Act are required. The building will remain partially occupied during construction; contractors must coordinate work to one-third of office areas at a time. Payment is made in progress applications with 10 percent retainage withheld until project completion. A one-year warranty on workmanship and labor applies from the Certificate of Substantial Completion. Bid irrevocability is thirty days from submission. Contractors are responsible for obtaining all necessary permits and fees.
