About this opportunity
Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners is requesting sealed bids on the Gateway Monuments Project, a construction project involving two gateway sign monuments, with bids due August 29, 2023 at 2:50 p.m. (deadline extended from August 21 by Addendum 2). A mandatory pre-bid conference is scheduled for August 8, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at DOT Central, 620 Winder Highway, Lawrenceville, Georgia.
The scope includes fabrication and installation of two aluminum gateway monuments — one 26'-6" tall at the intersection of State Route 124 and Riverlake Way, and another at the I-85 Interchange at Jimmy Carter Boulevard — along with site preparation including 350 square feet of Bermuda sod placement, 500 feet of electrical conduit for utility connection, and finish landscaping. The contractor must coordinate with the Georgia Department of Transportation under an encroachment permit and obtain utility company coordination for primary service installation to the utility meter. Existing guardrail at the State Route 124 location must remain undamaged. Special inspection requirements under the 2018 International Building Code apply to structural steel, concrete, masonry, and soils verification, with monthly interim reporting and final completion documentation required. The contractor must be licensed to conduct business in Georgia; no county business license is required.
Award will be made to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Each bid must include a bid bond, certified check, or cashier's check equal to five percent of the total bid amount. The successful contractor must provide 100 percent performance and payment bonds, all with A.M. Best ratings of A-5 or higher and issued by Georgia-licensed, Georgia Insurance Department–authorized surety companies. A five percent retainage is withheld from progress payments until substantial completion. Sealed bids in duplicate must be submitted to Gwinnett County Financial Services — Purchasing Division, 2nd Floor, 75 Langley Drive, Lawrenceville, Georgia 30046. Questions are due August 9, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. to Olivia Graves, Purchasing Associate II. Bidders must obtain plan sets from Precision Planning, Inc. for a non-refundable $50 per set. Vendors on the Gwinnett County ineligible source list are prohibited from submitting bids.
