About this opportunity
The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia is soliciting construction management firms to provide complete construction management and construction services for the Griffin Food Technology Center at the UGA Campus in Griffin, Georgia. The procurement was posted on May 20, 2014, with a proposal due date of June 19, 2014, and an addendum was added on June 24, 2014. The project involves constructing a new one-story research incubator building with high ceiling spaces that will house startup food development companies collaborating with the UGA Food Science Department. The facility will include a loading dock, test kitchen, laboratories, walk-in freezers and refrigerators, conference rooms, and office spaces, with exterior brick construction consistent with existing campus buildings. Responding firms must demonstrate successful experience in construction management, pricing, LEED certification, construction services, and delivery of educational and research buildings of similar scope and complexity. Evaluation criteria emphasize the firm's ability to work collaboratively with the owner, building users, architects, and consultants, as well as their experience managing federal grant requirements, as the project is partially funded by an Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant that imposes additional regulatory compliance requirements.
The procurement documentation does not specify set-aside designations or restrictions limiting responses to disadvantaged enterprises or other organizational categories. No incumbent vendors, current contractors, or existing infrastructure integration requirements are identified in the solicitation materials. The documentation does not disclose a specific award value or budget range for the construction project or construction management services.

Addendum One added 6/24/2014. The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia is soliciting responses from construction management firms interested in providing complete construction management and construction services for the construction of the Food Technology Center at the UGA Campus in Griffin, Georgia. Responding firms/teams must be able to demonstrate successful experience in construction management, pricing, LEED certification, construction services and delivery of educational and research buildings of similar scope and complexity. This building is partially funded with a federal grant from the Economic Development Administration (EDA) and as such, additional EDA requirements will apply to the construction of this project. Of equal importance shall be the firm's/team's successful demonstration of working with the owner, building users, architects and consultants on a team basis for the execution and completion of the Food Technology Center. The project consists of the construction of a new building, site utilities and site improvements. The Griffin Food Technology Center is a research "incubator" type building where new start-up food development companies lease space on the Griffin campus to develop new food products for consumers to buy. These new food products, if successful in the market place, will then be produced on a larger scale and distributed to food markets throughout the US and possibly the world. Development of these new food products will be collaboration between the UGA Food Science Department and the new start-up companies. It is anticipated that this building will be a one (1) story structure with some high ceiling spaces. It will also include a loading dock, a test kitchen, laboratories, walk-in freezers and refrigerators, conference rooms and office spaces. The exterior of the building will be brick in keeping with the character of the existing buildings on campus.
