About this opportunity
The Colorado Department of Corrections is requesting quotes for fresh produce delivery to seven correctional facilities across Colorado under Documented Quote DQ 2027000123, with quotes due October 14, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. MST and written inquiries due October 12, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. MST. Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses must submit U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs certification documentation with their proposals.
The scope encompasses weekly delivery of fresh fruits (apples, bananas, cantaloupes, oranges, pears, watermelons, honeydew melons, peaches) and vegetables (broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, corn, cucumbers, lettuce varieties, onions, bell peppers, radishes, tomatoes, yams, squash, potatoes) to seven locations: Buena Vista Correctional Complex, Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility, Central Warehouse, Sterling Correctional Facility, Denver Women's Correctional Facility, Denver Reception & Diagnostic Center, and Limon Correctional Facility. Deliveries are scheduled October 19–21, 2026 on staggered dates and times. All commodities must be date coded, meet current USDA standards for required grades, and be properly labeled with identity and origin; no substitutions or alternative products are accepted. Minimum shelf life is 10 days for salad mixes and shredded lettuce upon delivery. All pricing is all-inclusive with no additional shipping, surcharges, or taxes to be paid by CDOC; products are delivered F.O.B. Destination. The State reserves the right to award to multiple bidders.
No formal minimum order quantities or dollar amounts are guaranteed. Price is the primary evaluation consideration, though sample quality and lead time for delivery may also be evaluated. Failure to deliver on three separate occasions may result in disqualification from future solicitations for three years or indefinitely. Anticipated purchase order start and notice of intent to award are both October 14, 2026. Vendors must register with the Colorado Secretary of State, certify tax compliance, complete an enhanced criminal background investigation within 30 days, register in the CORE system, and maintain commercial general liability insurance of $1,000,000 minimum. Invoices are due by the 15th of each month.
