About this opportunity
The Colorado Department of Corrections is requesting quotes for fresh produce to supply correctional facility kitchens under solicitation DQ 2026000510, with quotes due June 10, 2026 and deliveries scheduled June 15–17, 2026 across multiple Colorado facilities.
The scope encompasses thirty produce items — fresh fruits (apples, bananas, cantaloupes, oranges, pears, watermelons, peaches) and vegetables (broccoli, cabbage, carrots, celery, corn, cucumbers, lettuce, onions, peppers, potatoes, tomatoes, squash) — with specified grades, sizes, and packaging requirements detailed in Exhibit D. Quantities range from 457 boxes of apples to 1,460 pounds of watermelons and 728 bags of russet potatoes. Salad mix and shredded lettuce require a minimum of ten days' shelf life remaining upon delivery to the CDOC warehouse. All food products must meet current USDA standards, be properly labeled with identity and origin, and be date-coded. The awarded brand is the sole brand accepted for delivery; no substitutions are permitted. Failure to deliver on all three scheduled occasions within agreed timeframes may result in disqualification from all future CDOC solicitations for three years or indefinitely.
Deliveries occur at Buena Vista Correctional Complex (June 15, prior to 12:00 noon); Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility, Central Warehouse, and Sterling Correctional Facility (June 16, prior to 2:00 PM and 9:00 AM respectively); and Denver Women's Correctional Facility, Denver Reception & Diagnostic Center, and Limon Correctional Facility (June 17, prior to 12:00 noon and 10:00 AM respectively). All items must be shipped in appropriate transport containers.
Pricing is all-inclusive with F.O.B. Destination terms; bidders account for shipping costs and no additional surcharges or taxes are paid by CDOC. Invoices are submitted via email by the 15th of each month. Bidders must complete and submit Exhibits A through F, including W-9 (Exhibit C), vendor information and shipping-terms selection (Exhibit B), non-conflict certification (Exhibit F), and contract-performance-outside-US disclosure (Exhibit E). All bidders must provide certificates of insurance evidencing commercial general liability coverage of at least $1 million per occurrence and $1 million general aggregate from A.M. Best "A"-rated carriers within seven business days of contract execution. Bidders must comply with Colorado statutory requirements including Secretary of State registration and tax certification.
