About this opportunity
The Township of Wayne, New Jersey is requesting sealed bids for demolition and site restoration of seven residential properties purchased under FMA Swift Grants, with bids due September 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. through the OpenGov Procurement portal. Bidders must hold Public Works Contractor Registration with the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development and comply with prevailing wage requirements — both mandatory qualifications that filter eligibility.
The scope covers complete demolition of dwelling units and associated sheds at seven specified addresses (five in Wayne; two in Pompton Lakes), including removal of footings, slabs, basements, and crawl spaces; closure of all wells; pumping and filling of septic systems, cesspools, and pools; removal and testing of aboveground and underground storage tanks; disconnection of all utilities; and grading and seeding to natural contour and erosion control. The contract duration is up to forty-five working days from issuance of the Notice to Proceed, with a required start date no later than twenty-one days from award.
Bid guarantees of ten percent of the total bid amount (not to exceed $20,000) are required in the form of certified check, cashier's check, or bid bond. Performance bonds equal to one hundred percent of the contract amount, labor and material payment bonds, and a two-year maintenance bond are required post-award. Liquidated damages of $500 per working day apply for failure to complete within the contract timeline and for failure to repair damaged private property within five working days of notification. The Township of Wayne is exempt from sales tax. Contractors must obtain all necessary permits and licenses. Award will go to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder, who must execute the contract within twenty-one days of award.
