About this opportunity
The County of Greenville is requesting sealed proposals on behalf of the Tigerville Fire Department for design, permitting, installation, testing, and acceptance of a new automatic fire sprinkler system in an existing two-story fire station, with proposals due August 7, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. and a mandatory pre-proposal meeting on July 24 at 9:00 a.m. Bidders must be qualified fire sprinkler contractors; no set-aside or preference program is stated.
The scope encompasses underground piping to the building and a complete wet pipe sprinkler system designed to NFPA 13-2019, IBC 2021, and IFC 2021 standards across approximately 3,000 square feet spanning two hazard areas: Light Hazard (offices, restrooms, corridors, training and dayrooms, bunk rooms) and Ordinary Hazard OH1 (truck bays, storage, mechanical spaces, equipment areas, fluid and gear rooms). The system must interface with fire alarm systems, include hydraulic calculations and stamped shop drawings, field verification of existing conditions, system flushing, final acceptance, and operator training. The facility is located at 2605 SC Highway 414 in Travelers Rest. Municipal water supply provides the source (150 psi static, 82 psi residual, 1,384 gpm at 20 feet); no on-site fire pump is required. Seismic design follows Site Classification D with Design Category C. The building must remain operational during construction.
Proposals must include lump sum pricing with detailed line item breakdowns for materials, labor, and taxes, plus unit pricing for change orders. Evaluation is weighted equally at 16.7% across six criteria: RFP responsiveness, cost, references, experience with similar projects, proposed approach and scope, and schedule. Questions are due July 28 at 12:00 p.m. Tentative award is August 21, with contract negotiations through September 4 and Notice to Proceed on September 4. Project completion is required by July 1, 2027. Upon award, the contractor must provide a performance and payment bond equal to the full contract amount and a bid bond equal to 5%. Insurance requirements include $1,000,000 per occurrence general liability ($2,000,000 aggregate), $1,000,000 automobile liability, and statutory worker's compensation with $1,000,000 limits, naming the Tigerville Fire Department as additional insured. A minimum one-year warranty on materials and workmanship is required.
