About this opportunity

The Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department is requesting qualifications for comprehensive repair and service of fire apparatus, vehicles, and replacement parts, with responses due October 23, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. CST. All services must comply with NFPA 1910 standards and manufacturer specifications.

The scope encompasses inspections, maintenance, repairs, and performance testing of the fire department's fleet, including quarterly, semi-annual, and annual preventative maintenance; emergency priority repairs with 24/7 availability and two-hour response requirements; and performance testing of fire pumps, aerial devices, electrical systems, and foam proportioning systems. Optional pick-up and delivery services are available. Services will be performed at a location to be determined in coordination with the Fire Department.

Minimum qualifications require technicians to hold Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) Level 1 certification for inspections and maintenance, Level 2 or higher for fire pump work, and Level 3 Master certification for aerial device operations. All vendors must register in the Unified Government's e-procurement system at https://purchasing.wycokck.org/eProcurement.

The contract term is two years with three optional one-year renewals from the award date. Pricing is structured as firm unit costs and hourly labor rates covering all necessary tools, equipment, insurance, and related expenses. The cost sheet requires unit pricing for quarterly, semi-annual, and annual services segmented by apparatus type (heavy apparatus, brush trucks, and light vehicles); hourly rates for priority and non-priority repairs during and outside normal business hours; hourly rates for pick-up, delivery, and travel time; optional vendor contributions toward training and conference travel; and markup percentages for supplied parts, sublet repairs, shipping, and shop supplies.

Written questions are due October 7, 2026. Responses must include one original and one copy plus a flash drive with PDF files and required Excel or PowerPoint spreadsheets, submitted to Laura Wilt (llwilt@wycokck.org, 913-573-5447) at 701 N 7th Street, Suite 323, Kansas City, KS 66101.
