About this opportunity
The City and County of San Francisco is requesting quotes for tree work at Carl Larsen Park under RFQ CON26-0058, with quotes due June 16, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. Attendance at a mandatory pre-quote meeting on either Tuesday, June 2 or Thursday, June 4, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. near the intersection of Vicente and 20th Avenue is required. This is an SF First procurement designed to provide local San Francisco contractors with contracting opportunities.
Contractors must hold a current California State License Board Class D-49 license and possess ISA Arborist Certification. The scope involves removing one large Cypress tree, grinding the stump to a minimum of 12 inches below grade, removing all debris and stump grindings off-site, and backfilling with clean soil. A biologist must be hired to monitor for nesting birds prior to commencement during nesting season. The contractor must comply with strict vehicle operation protocols within the park, including driving on designated pathways at no faster than 5 mph with spotters present. All work is subject to prevailing wage requirements and the San Francisco Mandatory Recycling and Compost Ordinance, requiring 75% waste diversion through the GreenHalo reporting system. A one-year minimum warranty is required on all work.
The project schedule allows 50 consecutive calendar days from notice to proceed until substantial completion, followed by 10 additional consecutive calendar days for final completion. The estimated contract value is $25,000 with a maximum contract value of $1.17 million. Liquidated damages are assessed at $200 per calendar day for failure to achieve substantial completion and $100 per calendar day for failure to achieve final completion. Five percent retention will be held on all payments. Contractors must register with the California Department of Industrial Relations and maintain current City Supplier status including a Business Tax Certificate. Subcontractors performing work exceeding one-half of one percent of the total bid price or $10,000 must be listed at bid submission. Award will be made within 90 days to the responsible contractor submitting the lowest responsive quote.
