About this opportunity
County of San Mateo is requesting sealed bids for the Entrada Way Culvert Slip-Out Bank Stabilization Project, a 600-foot creek channel and roadway stabilization effort, with bids due July 23, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. to the County Executive's Office. The project is federally funded under FEMA-4683-DR-CA and is subject to prevailing wage requirements established by the California Department of Industrial Relations; all contractors and subcontractors must be registered with the Department of Industrial Relations per Labor Code Section 1725.5. The County requests preference for hiring from the local labor market within San Mateo County.
The scope encompasses clearing and grubbing, erosion and sediment control measures (high-visibility silt fencing, wildlife exclusion fencing, stabilized construction entrances), temporary creek diversion systems with fish exclusion netting, excavation and dewatering, installation of engineered log structures with timber pilings, scour protection rock and salvaged boulder placement, low-flow channel construction, roadway pavement removal and replacement, 24-inch storm drain pipe installation, retaining wall construction with soldier piling and ground anchors (193 linear feet of steel W12x72 piling), and riparian restoration through live stake and container plant installations. Channel excavation totals 381 cubic yards; structure excavation 1,404 cubic yards for engineered log structures and 122 cubic yards for soldier pile walls. Construction access is restricted to the east bank, with all heavy equipment requiring crane placement. The contractor must coordinate with qualified biologists for fish exclusion and wildlife protection and submit a Temporary Creek Diversion System Plan prior to in-water work.
The engineer's estimate is $2.249 million. The contractor must possess either a Class A license or applicable Class C licenses at contract award. Overtime is payable at not less than 1.5 times the prevailing rate, and Sunday/holiday wages at not less than two times the prevailing rate. Questions regarding contract documents are due in writing by 5:00 p.m. on July 16, 2026. The anticipated contract award date is August 11, 2026. Bids may not be withdrawn for forty-five days after the bid opening date.
