About this opportunity

The City of Decatur, located in DeKalb County, Georgia, is seeking sealed proposals for the procurement of an electric or hybrid fire engine with associated equipment for its Fire Rescue Department. This procurement opportunity requires vendors to submit comprehensive proposals for a fire pumper engine that meets the city's specific operational requirements. Bidders must provide detailed information including an estimated start date, project completion timeline, and full specification of the proposed vehicle and equipment. All proposals must be submitted by 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, to the City Manager's Office at Decatur City Hall. Prospective vendors are required to submit written questions no later than 12:00 noon on Thursday, December 5, 2024, directed to Fire Chief Toni Washington. The proposal must include all labor, materials, and equipment necessary for project completion, with any deviations from specified materials clearly noted in the submission. Proposals will be publicly opened and read aloud in the City Commission Meeting Room, with vendors expected to establish their own means and methods for project execution.

While the Request for Proposal does not explicitly mention set-aside designations or specific vendor restrictions, the document indicates flexibility for future procurement, including the ability for other municipalities to "tag on" to the contract for up to three years after the bid opening date. The RFP suggests potential pricing adaptability through the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' Producer Price Index for future year purchases. Vendors must demonstrate capability to provide comprehensive service, parts availability, and meet specific chassis requirements for the electric or hybrid drivetrain. The document does not disclose a specific budget range or award value for the fire engine procurement. Interested vendors must submit their proposals in a sealed envelope marked with the bidder's name and the specific bid title "Bid for Electric or Hybrid Fire Engine for City of Decatur Fire Rescue Department," ensuring all documentation is properly enclosed and delivered to the designated office by the specified deadline.
