About this opportunity

The Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) located in Flint, Michigan, is seeking sealed bids for the procurement of 28 contemporary-style teacher desks with hutch and universal vertical workstation configurations equipped with tasklights for the Elmer Knopf Learning Center (EKLC). The EKLC serves students identified as Moderately Cognitively Impaired and Autistic from 21 districts across Genesee County, grades 8-26. Bidders must submit detailed specifications that precisely match the provided technical drawings and finish requirements, including speckled grey tops, seagull edge and legs/frame, alloy bubbley contemporary tackable panel fabric, and nickel handle finishes. Sealed bids must be received by October 12, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the GISD offices at 2413 West Maple Avenue, Flint, Michigan 48507-3493, with one original and two copies submitted in opaque envelopes. Questions regarding the RFP must be submitted to Megan Sturk, Administrative Secretary, at msturk@geneseeisd.org no later than 72 business hours before the due date. Bid prices must remain firm for 90 days from the bid opening date, and the Board of Education anticipates awarding the contract at its regular meeting on November 1, 2021. Delivery and installation must occur at the EKLC facility at 1493 West Maple Avenue, Flint, Michigan 48507, with at least 48 hours advance notice required to the Director of Operations, and all pricing must include delivery and setup costs.

All bidders are required to submit notarized copies of Public Act 232 of 2004 (Familial Relationship Disclosure Statement), Public Act 517 of 2012 (Iran Linked Business Certification), and a School Safety Affidavit with their proposals; failure to include these mandatory documents will result in automatic disqualification. Vendors must certify that all employees and agents working on school district property have been fingerprinted and cleared by the State Police and FBI with no convictions of specified offenses. The vendor is responsible for all costs related to intellectual property, patents, and copyrights, and must ensure all materials are asbestos-free and lead-free while complying with all federal, state, and local regulations and OSHA requirements. The vendor must arrange removal and disposal of all packaging materials following installation completion, and the GISD will not be responsible for local warehouse storage costs. The RFP does not specify an explicit budget range or award value within the available documentation, though the District reserves the right to accept or reject any and all bids, split the award between multiple vendors if deemed in the District's best interest, and cancel the RFP prior to work commencement if installation will be delayed more than six months. All labor, equipment, and materials are exempt from Michigan Sales and Use Tax.
