About this opportunity

Tooele County Parks and Recreation is seeking proposals from qualified motorsports contractors to plan and produce the Tooele County Demolition Derby on August 1, 2026, at The Peak Complex Motorized Arena in Tooele, Utah. The selected contractor will be responsible for a comprehensive event production, including soliciting drivers and sponsors, providing event staff (such as derby officials, fire support, EMS, and security personnel), obtaining necessary permits, distributing purses and trophies, and securing spectator insurance. Key deliverables include conducting marketing, providing an announcer and DJ, inspecting contestant vehicles, preparing the arena, coordinating vehicle tow trucks, and submitting post-event reports. The event must be family-friendly and last a minimum of 90 minutes. Proposal evaluation will be based on three primary criteria: 30 points for qualifications and relevant experience, 15 points for event programming and audience experience, and 55 points for cost, with the lowest cost proposal receiving 100% of cost points and others receiving proportional points. Interested contractors must submit proposals through the Utah State Purchasing U3P Website (Bonfire) by January 23, 2026, at 11:00 PM MST, with questions about the RFP due by January 16, 2026, and county responses provided by January 20, 2026.

No specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises were identified in the RFP. The contract will be a fixed-price arrangement based on the contractor's submitted proposal, with final award subject to Tooele County Council approval if the contract exceeds $100,000. Contractors must provide proof of workers' compensation insurance, commercial general liability insurance of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence, commercial automobile liability insurance of $1,000,000 per occurrence, and E-Verify registration. The selected contractor will retain proceeds from pit pass sales. While no specific budget range was disclosed, the RFP indicates that the county reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, extend or cancel scheduled due dates, or cancel the solicitation altogether. Proposals must remain valid for at least 90 days, and all standard state of Utah terms and conditions will apply to the final contract.
