About this opportunity
The Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) is seeking sealed bids for the Davis Building Granite Steps Removal & Replace Project located at 2413 W. Maple Ave., Flint, Michigan. This Request for Bids procurement involves exterior step repair work at the Davis Center, with deliverables including removal and reinstallation of existing granite steps, repair of cracked granite using dowels and epoxy, removal and temporary storage of granite stone step pieces, exposure of clean concrete footings by removing existing setting mortar, cleaning of existing holes in granite without enlargement, and furnishing and installation of new stainless steel handrails set in non-shrink grout. Bidders must provide separate line items in their base bids for both an all-inclusive cost for dowel and epoxy repair and a unit cost for complete granite step replacement to match existing conditions. A highly recommended pre-bid meeting was held on Friday, June 15, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at the project site. Sealed bids must be received by 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, with public opening and reading of proposals immediately following. All questions regarding bidding procedures and specifications must be directed to the Project Consultant, MAYOTTEgroup Architects (Matthew McGaughey, AIA at mcgaughey@mayottearchitects.com), before 2:00 p.m. on June 21, 2018. The Owner anticipates awarding the contract within 30 days of the bid due date. Bid security equal to 5% of the bid amount in the form of a bid bond is required, and all bids must be submitted on provided forms with facsimiles not accepted.
All bids are subject to prevailing wage requirements under Act 166 of 1965 of the State of Michigan. Each bid submission must include notarized Familial Disclosure statements (Attachment C) disclosing any familial relationships between the bidder and school district officials or employees, and notarized Vendor Certification Forms (Attachment D); bids without these sworn and notarized disclosure statements will be rejected. Contractors must protect existing concrete sidewalks and asphalt pavement from damage during execution of the work and should note that a contract time extension will be considered to accommodate lead time for the new stainless steel railings. Contract terms will be governed by the AIA 107-2007 Standard Abbreviated Form of Agreement Between Owner and Contractor. Logistics, staging, and facility usage will be finalized during a kick-off meeting scheduled after contract award. The contract documents do not specify an estimated project value or budget range. The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all proposals, award the bid to other than the low bidder, and waive informalities, irregularities, and errors in bid proposals at its discretion.
