About this opportunity

The State of Maine Division of Purchases is requesting bids on custodial services for the Department of Corrections facility at 144 High Street, Suite #2, Farmington, Maine, with quotes due June 13, 2011 and a three-year contract term running July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2014. Certified Work Centers receive preference and will be awarded if cost-comparable to general contractor bids.

The scope covers approximately 490 square feet of cleaning space with comprehensive custodial maintenance services including weekly trash removal, floor care, restroom cleaning, and periodic maintenance tasks ranging from weekly to annual frequency. Work must be performed on Mondays between 5:00 p.m. and midnight unless otherwise specified. The contractor must provide all labor, equipment, supplies, supervision, and materials, including commercial/industrial vacuum equipment with HEPA filtration and self-contained carpet cleaning equipment capable of 50 PSI cleaning solution delivery with 100 inches of water lift. Bidders must submit a comprehensive work schedule detailing intended performance for all periodic requirements, with flexibility for schedule adjustments at the State's discretion.

Pricing must be submitted as a total cost for the three-year contract term along with monthly and yearly breakdowns and cost per square foot calculations through the Vendor Self Service bidding system. Monthly payments will be made upon invoice submission subject to contractor compliance with all specifications and State fund availability.

Insurance requirements include Workers' Compensation, Commercial General Liability of $300,000 per occurrence, and Automobile Liability of $300,000 per occurrence, with the State named as additional insured. The contract is subject to termination by the Department with thirty days' notice of non-fund availability for subsequent fiscal years and includes provisions allowing the State to deduct payment for unmet specifications or employee absences. Bidders are encouraged to inspect the facility by contacting Cindy Brann at 207-783-5383.
