About this opportunity
The City of Indianapolis and Marion County Department of Public Works is requesting quotes for a crane body upfit on a Ford F-550 service truck, with quotes due by 10:00 a.m. on September 30, 2026. The vendor must hold a current Indiana motor vehicle dealer license and achieve or demonstrate good faith efforts toward minority business enterprise (15%), women's business enterprise (8%), veteran's business enterprise (3%), and disability-owned business enterprise (1%) participation.
The scope requires a Knapheide KMT1-11R, 11-foot crane body with an AutoCrane HC-7 hydraulic crane system — no substitutes permitted, though the City reserves the right to evaluate equivalent alternatives. The upfit includes detailed compartmentation, LED work lighting, hydraulic outriggers, air compressor with hose reel, backup camera, winch, strobes, beacon lights, and specified safety and operational equipment across 46 detailed components. The City will supply the base Ford F-550 Super Duty 4x2 truck chassis; the vendor completes the full upfit for one unit. Delivery must occur within 30 calendar days of purchase order receipt to the IFS Facility at 1651 West 30th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana. Quotes must include delivery, freight prepaid and allowed, Indiana tire tax, and title application services, and remain firm for 90 days from opening.
The vendor must maintain parts availability at 95 percent with two-working-day delivery or next-day delivery for wear items, and must have an authorized warranty dealer within 25 miles of Indianapolis or reimburse the City for warranty work performed by IFS. Minimum warranty is one year from acceptance covering 100 percent parts and labor. The vendor must submit manufacturer literature, a minimum of three authorized parts suppliers with contact information, and each subcontractor must provide three parts and service manuals. Questions were due September 18, 2026. The contract may be renewed under the same terms, with total term not exceeding four years. Product liability insurance of at least $1 million is required; if installation services are involved, commercial general liability of $1 million per occurrence, auto coverage of $1 million, and statutory workers' compensation are also required.
