About this opportunity

Granite School District is requesting bids for perimeter security fencing and gate installations at 42 elementary schools throughout the district under IFB 5-JF27-005, with bids due June 25, 2026 at 2:00 PM and mandatory pre-bid attendance on June 18, 2026 at 8:00 AM. This is a single-award procurement to the lowest cost responsive and responsible vendor, with board approval anticipated July 7, 2026.

Bidders must hold General Contractor (B100) or Fencing/Landscape and Recreation Contractor (S330) classification. The initial bid scope covers two subject schools—Jim Bridger Elementary in West Jordan and Rolling Meadows Elementary in West Valley City—with subsequent unit-priced work at the remaining 40 schools as designs are approved and released.

Work includes removal of existing perimeter fencing, installation of chain-link fencing (galvanized steel per ASTM F1043) and decorative metal fencing (per ASTM F2408) at 6 feet tall, installation of powered and unpowered swing gates and cantilever gates with electronic strike devices (HES 9600 systems) and access control capability, concrete footings at minimum 3 feet depth with continuous welded connections, concrete mow strips, and site restoration including sod replacement and irrigation relocation. All work must occur while schools remain operational, requiring coordination with district schedules and other contractors performing electrical and security wiring. Contractor is responsible for site protection, material storage, safety compliance, and disposal of demolition waste. All materials must be galvanized steel with no asbestos or hazardous materials; work must comply with ASTM standards, CLFMI Product Manual, UL 325 standards for automated gates, and manufacturer instructions as of June 12, 2026.

The successful contractor receives an open purchase order with an upper limit of $2,000,000 for aggregate work across all 42 schools. Bids of $50,000 or greater require Bid Bond; Payment and Performance Bonds are required for each individual project of $50,000 or greater. Bidders must submit documentation of at least five comparable projects with owner contact information, scope, costs, and descriptions. A full-time Site Superintendent must be on-site whenever work is performed. The Site Superintendent and Project Manager must pass background checks for security badge issuance. Subcontractors performing work valued at $5,000 or more must be disclosed with license numbers and work descriptions. Contractor unit pricing is firm through project completion; no increases are permitted. Questions close June 22, 2026 at 2:00 PM. Bids may not be withdrawn for 60 days from the due date. The contract carries a one-year warranty from Substantial Completion and a five-year warranty on fence and gate components.
