About this opportunity

The State of Maine Division of Purchases is requesting bids for concrete T-wall sections for the Messer Brook Bridge #0572 in Union, Knox County, with bids due September 11, 2008. Tie bids are resolved in favor of in-state bidders or those offering Maine-produced or manufactured commodities, provided other factors are equal.

The scope includes placement of five concrete T-wall sections with heights ranging from 2 feet 6 inches to 5 feet, reinforcing steel meeting ASTM A615 Grade 60 standards with specified bar marks and spacing, anchor bolt configurations, concrete footings, guardrail post installation with offset brackets, and restoration of disturbed sideslopes with loam and seed. Reinforcement bar spacing is detailed at intervals including 9 inches transverse and 18 inches longitudinal, with stirrup bars spaced at 1-foot on-center. Construction work includes saw-cutting and removing existing pavement to specified depths, drilling and grouting dowel bars into existing structures with minimum 12-inch embedment into ledge, and installation of hot bituminous pavement to match existing grades.

Bidders must submit separate unit prices for each item unless otherwise specified, with awards made on an item-by-item or group basis as determined in the State's best interest. The State of Maine is exempt from Federal and Maine State Sales and Use Taxes; bidders should quote accordingly. All transportation charges, including freight and express delivery, must be prepaid by the contractor unless otherwise specified. The Division of Purchases reserves the right to increase or decrease quantities by up to 10 percent. Unit price governs in cases of discrepancy between unit and total prices. Cash discounts must be clearly stated; discounts under 20 days are not considered in contract award. Sealed bids are opened electronically and tabulations become available for public inspection following contract award.
