About this file

This is a technical construction plan document issued by the State of Maine Department of Transportation for the Messer Brook Bridge #0572 located in Union, Knox County, Maine. The project involves installing stub guardrail posts on the bridge along with concrete T-wall sections and related structural improvements. The scope of work includes placement of new concrete curbs, installation of concrete T-walls at specified elevations, placement of concrete footings, installation of guardrail posts with offset brackets, and restoration of disturbed sideslopes with loam and seed. The plan details specific dimensions and quantities for structural components, including five T-wall sections with varying heights (ranging from 2'–6" to 5'–0"), reinforcing steel schedules with multiple bar marks (#500 through #505) and specified spacing requirements, and anchor bolt configurations. The document is dated September 2006 and includes comprehensive technical specifications, elevation views, plan views, and detailed section drawings necessary for construction execution.

The document specifies all reinforcing steel materials must meet ASTM A615 Grade 60 standards, with detailed placement requirements including bar spacing at intervals such as 9 inches transverse and 18 inches longitudinal, and stirrup bars spaced at 1-foot on-center. Construction requirements include saw-cutting and removing existing pavement to specified depths, drilling and grouting dowel bars into existing structures with minimum embedment of 12 inches into ledge, and installation of hot bituminous pavement to match existing grades. The plan indicates use of existing stone retaining walls as heavy riprap and establishes specific concrete pad dimensions proportional to width-to-height ratios. No pricing information, contract award dates, response deadlines, or procurement timeline details are included in this technical specification document.
