About this opportunity

The City of Olathe is requesting bids on ready-mix concrete furnishing and delivery on an as-needed basis for City construction and maintenance projects under IFB-26-0083, with bids due August 21, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. CST and questions due August 18, 2026. A local-vendor preference allows businesses within Johnson County to be selected over the lowest bid if quality and suitability are equal and the price variance does not exceed 2% or $5,000.

The scope covers five concrete types with estimated volumes: KDOT Grade 3.0 AE Concrete (500 cubic yards), KDOT Grade 4.0 AE Concrete (600 cubic yards), KCMMB 4K Concrete at 4,000 PSI (3,000 cubic yards), Removable Flowable Fill (600 cubic yards), and Permanent Flowable Fill (20 cubic yards). All work must comply with the City of Olathe Technical Specifications and Design Criteria for Public Improvement Projects. Coarse aggregate materials are limited to granite, quartzite, sandstone, or trap rock with specified soundness and expansion limits. Bidders must submit unit pricing for each concrete type and itemized charges for short loads, minimum loads, waiting time, weekend delivery, holiday delivery, after-hours delivery, and returned concrete. Delivery tickets and mix design certifications must accompany each submittal.

The initial contract term is three years from approval with two optional one-year renewals. The City accepts Net 30 payment terms and P-Card payment without additional cost. Award will be made to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder based on price, specification conformance, vendor experience, completion time, past performance, product quality, and references. The City reserves the right to award in whole or in part and may extend the contract if mutually agreeable and funds are available. Bidders must maintain all required licenses, insurance, and permits.
