About this opportunity

The Maine Department of Public Safety, through the Division of Purchases, is soliciting bids for custodial services at the Maine State Police Troop C office in Skowhegan under a solicitation restricted to certified Work Centers as defined in 5 MRSA 1826-B.2, with bids due June 17, 2013.

The scope covers daily and periodic custodial services for approximately 3,450 square feet, five days per week, including wastebasket emptying, vacuuming, restroom and entry-area cleaning, window washing, and seasonal tasks such as carpet shampooing and sanitizing. The contract term runs July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2016. The contractor must furnish all supplies, equipment, materials, labor, supervision, and tools; the State provides dumpster and disposal services.

Bids must include total cost for the three-year contract, monthly pricing, and yearly pricing, submitted through the State of Maine Vendor Self Service (VSS) system. Award is based on proposed price and ability to fulfill duties and requirements. No more than 15% of work may be performed by subcontractors, all of whom must carry the same insurance. The State reserves the right to conduct a standard competitive bid if proposed Work Center costs are determined not to be fair and reasonable compared to non-Work Center market rates, or to arrange performance by the Department of Corrections.

Insurance requirements: Workers' Compensation and Employer's Liability as required by law, Commercial General Liability of $300,000 per occurrence, and Automobile Liability of $300,000 per occurrence, with the State named as additional insured prior to work commencement and annually thereafter. Payment is made in equal monthly installments within 30 days of invoice approval. The State may terminate on 30 days notice if funds become unavailable.

A facility walk-through is strongly encouraged and may be scheduled by contacting Lt. Mark Brooks at 207-474-3350.
