About this opportunity

The University of Georgia, located in Clarke County, Georgia, is procuring comprehensive water treatment services for its main campus in Athens through a competitive bidding process. The scope of work requires the contractor to provide chemical treatment services, consulting services, and microbiological testing programs for an extensive network of cooling towers, chilled water systems, hot water distribution systems, and steam boilers. Specifically, the contractor must treat approximately 80 cooling towers with capacities ranging from 20 to 1,800 tons, 4 chilled water loop systems connecting major buildings, 70 building chilled water distribution systems, 100 building hot water distribution systems (including 10 two-pipe systems), and 8 steam boilers ranging from 20 to 350 horsepower. The University intends to maintain its current water treatment program structure, including existing chemical compositions, concentrations, pumps, controllers, feed stations, and handling procedures. All costs for materials and services must be included in unit prices submitted on the provided Contract Cost Worksheet, with the overall annual contract cost not to exceed $150,000. The bid submission deadline was June 23, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., with four addenda issued between June 3 and June 18, 2014, and an optional site visit was provided to prospective bidders.

No specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises or restrictions limiting eligible respondents are detailed in the procurement documentation. The contract documents do not identify any incumbent vendors, current contractors, or existing technology integration requirements beyond maintaining compatibility with the University's current water treatment infrastructure and existing equipment systems. No information regarding potential award values beyond the stated maximum annual contract cost of $150,000 is provided. The bid opening process is noted as non-public, and payment will be rendered only for services and products actually provided at the established unit prices and quantities approved by the University, rather than based solely on the estimated annual costs submitted during the bidding process.
