About this opportunity

The Long Beach Public Utilities Department is requesting bids on miscellaneous water works materials and bronze products under ITB UD-25-215, with bids due December 2, 2024 (extended by Addendum 2 from the original November 18 date). A 10% local-vendor preference applies to Long Beach-based businesses meeting residency criteria, capped at a maximum preference cost of $50,000 for evaluation purposes only.

The scope comprises 84 line items (reduced from the original count by Addendum 1) spanning bolted couplings (4-inch through 14-inch), valve boxes (cast iron and concrete), pipe repair clamps, flanged coupling adapters, tapping sleeves, bronze water service products (curb stops, corporation stops, meter couplings, angle meter stops, service saddles), polyethylene pipe, and miscellaneous materials. Estimated quantities range from single units to 2,000 units per item. All materials in contact with potable water must comply with California Health and Safety Code Section 116875 for no-lead/ultra-low lead content (maximum 0.25% weighted average lead) and ANSI/NSF Standard 61 certification. Bronze products must meet ASTM B62 specifications for composition brass castings.

The contract term is one year with two optional one-year renewals by mutual agreement. Unit pricing must be firm for the initial one-year term with no increases permitted and must include all delivery costs, taxes, and associated fees to the warehouse at 1731 East 33rd Street, Long Beach, California 90807. Deliveries must occur within seven business days of release notice, Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. A 12-month warranty on materials and workmanship is required, with repairs or replacements completed within five business days at no cost.

Bidders must maintain authorized distributor status or provide manufacturer certification of warranty support and may submit alternate manufacturers if products meet specifications and equal quality standards. A $10,000 bid bond is required. Questions are due November 12, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., with answers posted by November 14, 2024 at 3:30 p.m. Bids must be submitted via the Long Beach Buys electronic bidding portal. Proposers must acknowledge receipt of both addenda by signing and returning them with bid submissions.
