About this opportunity

The Hazlehurst-Jeff Davis County Board of Tourism is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for restoration and repair services to the Big House, a historic 1913 mansion located at 25 E. Coffee Street in Hazlehurst, Georgia. The scope of work encompasses restoration of four large front columns and six smaller side columns, along with repair and replacement of the soffit above the front porch, with all materials required to match the original wood construction and preference given to preserving original materials where feasible. The project includes damage assessment and repairs resulting from Hurricane Helene, with work to be completed by December 31, 2025, at 11:59 P.M. Qualified contractors or firms must submit sealed proposals that include a resume or letter detailing relevant experience, three professional references, and a 30-day quote for the base scope of work. Contractors are required to maintain General Liability Insurance of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence and Workers' Compensation Insurance as required by Georgia state law. A mandatory bidders' conference is scheduled for August 7, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at the project site, with sealed proposals due by 3:00 P.M. on August 20, 2025, with no exceptions for late submissions. The public proposal opening meeting will occur on August 20, 2025, at 3:00 P.M., and award notification is expected by August 22, 2025, at 5:00 P.M.

The RFP does not specify set-aside designations or restrictions limiting responses to particular types of organizations or disadvantaged enterprises. No incumbent vendors or current contractors are identified in the procurement documents. Contractors may propose additional repair and restoration projects as add-ons with separate pricing beyond the base scope of work. The procurement documents do not disclose a specific budget range or award value, though the RFP notes that the tight project deadline reflects limited funding allocation for this historic preservation initiative. Sealed proposals may be submitted in person, by USPS mail, or through alternative postal carriers to The Big House at the specified address. The primary contact for questions and submission inquiries is Oakley G. Perry, Executive Director, at (912) 375-4543 or big.house@jeffdavishazlehurst.com.
