About this opportunity
The City of Minneapolis is requesting bids for the replacement of three overhead trash and recycling doors at the Minneapolis Convention Center, with bids due November 10, 2026, and a mandatory pre-bid meeting required for bidding eligibility.
The scope includes removal and replacement of three existing 8'x12' overhead rolling steel doors located in Hall C West, Hall D East, and Hall E East with new high-speed doors featuring black coloring and no vision panels. The contractor must supply and install hardwired activation strings on the inside and outside of each enclosure, conduct field measurements to verify actual door sizes, perform all low voltage wiring, and remove existing bollards with modifications or preparations to existing openings as needed. The City of Minneapolis will handle high voltage electrical wiring and installation of new bollards. The contractor must provide all means, tools, equipment, certified operators for lifts or forklifts, obtain required permits, coordinate with the MCC Project Manager, maintain site care, and include a return trip for startup and testing once power is supplied to the equipment. Work completion is expected in October 2026 based on building events and owner approval, with the project schedule to be determined upon contract award.
Minnesota Statute 16C.285 establishes mandatory responsible contractor verification requirements. Prime contractors and all first-tier subcontractors must submit signed statements certifying compliance with seven minimum criteria categories, including workers' compensation and unemployment insurance registration, valid federal tax identification, and compliance with wage and labor laws. Contractors must certify they have not violated Minnesota wage and hour statutes or federal labor laws within the preceding three-year period. Attachment A-1 (First-Tier Subcontractors List) must be submitted with the bid; Attachment A-2 (Additional Subcontractors List) must be submitted within 14 days if subcontractors are added after contract execution.
The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder as a single lump sum agreement from bid award through owner-approved project completion. Payment is made within thirty days of invoice submission and final inspection acceptance. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids and purchase items or services in the open market if the contractor fails to deliver, with cost overages to be reimbursed by the contractor.
