About this file

This is a specifications document for a state and local contract opportunity issued by the City of Minneapolis for the replacement of three overhead trash/recycling doors at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The project involves the removal and replacement of three existing 8'x12' trash/recycling overhead rolling steel doors located in Hall C West, Hall D East, and Hall E East, with new high-speed doors featuring black coloring and no vision panels. The contractor must supply and install hardwired activation strings on the inside and outside of each enclosure, conduct field measurements to verify actual door sizes, perform all low voltage wiring, and handle removal of existing bollards with modifications or preparations to existing openings as needed. The project schedule is to be determined upon contract award, with work completion expected in October 2026 based on building events and owner approval. A mandatory pre-bid meeting is required for bidding eligibility, though the specific meeting date and time are referenced in a separate "Call for Bids" document. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder as a single lump sum agreement beginning on the bid award date through owner-approved project completion.

The City of Minneapolis will handle all high voltage electrical wiring and installation of new bollards, while the contractor is responsible for providing all means, tools, equipment, certified operators for lifts or forklifts, and obtaining required permits. The bid must include a return trip for startup and testing once power is run to the equipment. The contractor must coordinate all work with the MCC Project Manager, maintain site care, store products in approved locations, and minimize disruption to the building's normal operations. Payment will be made within thirty days of invoice submission and final inspection acceptance, with invoices directed to the City of Minneapolis at the specified address. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids, hire other contractors for similar work, and purchase items or services in the open market if the contractor fails to deliver, with cost overages to be reimbursed by the contractor.
