About this opportunity
Leon County and the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) are seeking to procure a specialized "Bed and Linen All-In-One" product through a Single Source Purchase (PUR 7776). The procurement involves a unique bedding solution designed for correctional and detention facilities, specifically a mattress-blanket combination manufactured by Bob Barker Company. The product specifications include a 35" W x 75" L bed constructed with two-ply 650 denier polyester quilted fabric, featuring a poly core inserted between layers, a self-contained pillow, and Sherwood green stain-resistant fabric. The bed must meet California flammability standards (CA 117 Section C & CPAI 84) and be sewn with double-needle, locking-stitch techniques using 100% bonded nylon thread. The procurement was posted on June 11, 2025, with a submission deadline of June 27, 2025, allowing a standard 15-business day posting period for potential vendor responses. The commodity is classified under UNSPSC code 56101508 for mattress or sleep set, and the procurement originates from the Detention Headquarters.
The procurement appears to be a single-source contract with Bob Barker Company, with an estimated contract value of $50,000. No specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises are explicitly mentioned in the documents. Vendors can file protests via mail to the agency's Tallahassee address, with failure to file within prescribed timeframes constituting a waiver of proceedings. The procurement follows Florida Statutes sections 120.57(3) and 287.057(3), ensuring transparency in the single-source procurement process. Key approving officials include Michael Watson (Purchasing), Mary Anderson (Detention), and Jack Finley (Detention). The documents emphasize that the product is not a substitute for careful monitoring of individuals at risk of self-harm, and returns or exchanges are not permitted due to liability considerations. The procurement is specifically for the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice and will be administered through Leon County's jurisdictional oversight.
