About this opportunity
The State of Maine is requesting bids for four complete aluminum truck bodies for fire engines, with bids due March 25, 2013. Award will be made on a best-value basis considering the vendor's ability to meet specifications, price, and delivery schedule.
The scope calls for four aluminum bodies, each 116 inches long by 97 inches wide overall with 96 inches of usable load space. Key structural components include an 8-inch interlocking extruded aluminum plank floor, 3-inch by 2-inch aluminum tubing crossmembers spaced 12 inches on center, and 6-inch by 2-inch aluminum tubing longsills. All lighting must be LED (stop, tail, marker, and backup), with wiring routed within the tubing substructure. Each body requires a full-width rear apron, rubber mud flaps, a 97-decibel electric backup alarm, a 4-inch steel channel ICC bumper with 2-inch receiver tube, and a 7-prong electrical trailer connection. Custom items include two 4-inch PVC hose carriers mounted between the longsills, a sloped style side-mount spare tire rack on the passenger side, removable access steps with handrails, and two aluminum treadplate toolboxes—one driver-side measuring 96 inches long by 30 inches high by 24 inches deep with two open interior doors, and one passenger-side measuring 72 inches long by 30 inches high by 24 inches deep with two doors of differing widths, one permanent vertical divider, and one adjustable shelf. Both toolboxes must use aluminum hinges and stainless steel hardware.
Delivery is required to Old Town, Maine. The procurement is governed by the State of Maine General Terms and Conditions, which require contractors to warrant conformity to specifications and merchantable quality, comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws including environmental and energy efficiency standards, and remain liable for defects within one year of final acceptance. Vendors must submit questions through the online Question and Answer portal on the Solicitation Details View page.
