About this opportunity
The City of Springfield, Massachusetts, Office of Procurement is soliciting bids for classroom sound enhancement with safety and intercom system installations at three Springfield Public Schools locations through three separate Invitations for Bid (26-168, 26-171, and 26-172). The primary procurement focuses on audio enhancement services, including the installation of intercom and safety systems designed to improve classroom acoustics and emergency communication capabilities. Deliverables include the complete design, installation, and implementation of sound enhancement and intercom systems tailored to each school's specifications. Prime and General Contractors must be certified by the State Division of Capital Asset Management in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 149. The bid submission deadline is 2:00 PM on April 30, 2026, at the Office of Procurement, 36 Court Street, Room 307, Springfield, MA 01103. Site visits are strongly encouraged and scheduled for April 21, 2026, with Rebecca Johnson Elementary at 9:00 AM, Brookings Elementary at 10:00 AM, and Kensington International School at 11:00 AM. Written questions regarding bid specifications must be submitted to Neil Walker, Deputy Procurement Officer, at nwalker@springfieldcityhall.com by April 22, 2026, at 4:30 PM. Bid documents are available beginning April 15, 2026, through the City's website at www.springfield-ma.gov.
The City of Springfield supports a goal of twenty percent minority and women-owned business enterprise (MWBE) participation across all contracts, and Massachusetts Department of Labor Standards prevailing wage rates apply to these projects. No incumbent vendors or existing contractors are identified in the procurement documents. The estimated project values are approximately $250,000 for both Rebecca Johnson Elementary and Brookings Elementary schools, with Kensington International School budgeted at $125,000, for a combined total potential contract value of approximately $625,000 across the three schools. The Chief Procurement Officer reserves the right to waive any informality in bids and to reject any or all bids if deemed in the public interest. Contractors should be prepared to demonstrate experience with sound system installation and school safety infrastructure to be considered competitive.
