About this opportunity

Macon-Bibb County is seeking sealed bids for fire hoses for its Fire Department through Invitation to Bid #25-047-LH, with bids due on June 12, 2025, at 12:00 noon. The procurement specifically requires three distinct fire hose types: 28 links of 1-inch fire hose with 1 coupling and National Hose Thread, 22 links of 2-inch fire hose with Macon Threads 3.00x8, and 30 links of 4-inch fire hose with 4-inch coupling and National Hose Thread. The hoses must meet rigorous technical specifications, including compliance with NFPA 1961, Underwriter's Laboratories, and Factory Mutual standards, with detailed performance requirements for materials, service pressures, proof pressures, and burst pressures. Bidders must submit comprehensive documentation, including a completed bid form, warranty information, and various compliance documents. Questions regarding the bid are due by May 30, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., and bids will be publicly opened on June 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Macon Bibb Procurement Conference Room.

The procurement encourages participation from Minority, Women Owned, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (M/W/DBE), with Small Business Affairs available to assist businesses requiring support in the competitive process. A local preference provision allows County businesses to be awarded bids if their proposal is within 5% of the lowest responsive and responsible bid. Vendors must provide comprehensive insurance coverage, including Workers' Compensation, Employers' Liability, Commercial General Liability, and Commercial Automobile Liability Insurance with specified minimum coverage limits. Bidders are required to complete extensive documentation, including a Bidder Qualification Form, List of Sub-Contractors, Minority Participation Goal form, Financial & Legal Stability Statement, and E-Verify Affidavit. The procurement allows for potential split awards, and no bid may be withdrawn for 60 days after the bid opening. While no specific budget range is explicitly stated, the detailed technical specifications and comprehensive documentation suggest a significant investment in high-quality firefighting equipment for the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department.
