About this opportunity
The City of Alpharetta is requesting proposals for design services for Log Cabin Park stormwater mitigation, with proposals due March 30, 2023. This is a completed procurement — Rummel, Klepper and Kahl, LLP (RK&K) was awarded the contract on a not-to-exceed basis of $154,065.
The scope encompasses comprehensive engineering design services including HEC-HMS hydrologic modeling, HEC-RAS hydraulic modeling, final design of one or more stormwater management facilities, construction cost estimation, permitting support, and operations and maintenance planning. The project integrates stormwater capture and infiltration or retention on the city-owned Log Cabin Park property to address nuisance flooding in the downstream Meadow Brooks/Milton Estates neighborhood. A tributary to Foe Killer Creek flows through the park; the design must align with existing and planned community facilities. The scope also includes ADA-compliant pedestrian connectivity improvements connecting to Marjean Way and Milton Avenue, with ADA-compliant parking spaces.
RK&K scored 89.33 points among five competing proposals, ranked highest on design team work plan, project schedule, staff qualifications (40% weight), relevant experience and references (30% weight), local-vendor preference (3% weight), and cost proposal (27% weight). Competing firms included Columbia Engineering (74.72 points, $163,863.75), Croy Engineering (72.43 points, $165,740), Geosyntec Consultants (70.80 points, $174,781), and Tetra Tech (51.12 points, $252,873). RK&K's selection reflected demonstrated experience with southeastern stormwater retrofits in Chattanooga and Gwinnett County, Georgia, and positive reference feedback on schedule management and innovation. Design work is anticipated to begin upon contract execution and council approval, with an estimated 32-week completion timeline from the Notice to Proceed.

Update #2 · Latest ·
The City of Alpharetta is accepting proposals for the DESIGN SERVICES: LOG CABIN PARK STORMWATER MITIGATION. The design should integrate one or more stormwater management facilities in a manner that augments the capture and infiltration or storage of stormwater on the Log Cabin Park property (Exhibit A). While the primary goal is an increase in overall stormwater capture, the project aesthetics and design should align with the existing community facilities and planned community use. A tributary to Foe Killer Creek flows through the Log Cabin Park and is upstream of the Meadow Brooks/ Milton Estates neighborhood, which suffers from nuisance flooding. The goal is to capture and infiltrate or retain stormwater within the city-owned property in combination with the existing and future park amenities. The Consultant will perform engineering services including, but not limited to, HEC-HMS hydrologic modeling, HEC-RAS hydraulic modeling, final design of one or more stormwater management facilities, cost estimation for construction, permitting, and development of an operations and maintenance plan. The options identified in the assessment will be presented to the city staff and the Consultant will then develop design drawings for the preferred alternative. The Work will begin upon contract execution and receipt of the Notice to Proceed and will end upon the completion of the Project as agreed by both parties.
Update #1 ·
The City of Brookhaven Public Works Department is requesting proposals to provide On-Demand Right-of-Way Acquisition Services related to infrastructure improvements within the City, including but not limited to Stormwater Infrastructure, Sidewalk or Multiuse Improvement Projects, and Intersection Improvement Projects.
