About this opportunity

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) is soliciting bids for removal and installation of a backup generator at Alexander City Tower under ITB 184754, with bids due July 6, 2026 and a mandatory pre-bid meeting at 12:00 p.m. on June 11, 2026 at the site (421 Adams Circle, Alexander City, Alabama).

Bidders must attend the mandatory pre-bid site visit to remain eligible. Questions are due June 30, 2026 by 5:00 p.m. Award will be made on an "all or none" basis to the lowest responsible bidder meeting all specifications.

The scope is turnkey generator replacement: removal and disposal of the existing Kohler propane generator, installation of a new 8–10 kilowatt propane-operated generator with single-phase 240-volt 60-hertz automatic transfer switch (100-ampere rating, NEMA 1R or 3R enclosure), propane fuel line connections, system testing, and operator training to ALEA maintenance personnel. Work must occur during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with coordination to minimize operational disruption. The contractor assumes full responsibility for permits, debris removal, property protection, and compliance with federal, state, and local codes and OSHA safety regulations.

Bidders must hold a current Alabama General Contractor's License (for bids exceeding $100,000), Alabama Electrical Contractor's Board license, Alabama Plumbers and Gas Fitters Board license, and State of Alabama business license. Certified electrician(s) and a certified plumber/gas fitter are required. Proof of three commercial references demonstrating similar-project qualifications must accompany the bid.

Insurance requirements mandate $2 million minimum liability coverage with $1 million per occurrence and $1 million workers' compensation insurance, with the State of Alabama named as certificate holder. F.O.B. destination applies; the supplier bears all freight charges and risk of loss. Final payment is contingent upon completion of a final walkthrough inspection approved by ALEA and successful training delivery. The new generator carries a standard five-year manufacturer warranty from the date of installation and operational verification. The State of Alabama pays invoices thirty days in arrears upon receipt.
