About this opportunity
The Maine Department of Transportation Office of Passenger & Multimodal Planning is requesting bids on two 16-capacity bicycle tagalong trailers, 2007 or 2008 model year, with bids due March 5, 2008. In case of tie bids, preference is given to in-state bidders or those with products manufactured in Maine.
The trailers must be new units capable of loading 16 bicycles from both sides, with a maximum deck width of 76 inches and minimum length of 180 inches. Required features include LED brake and tail lights, independent suspension axles with easy lubrication, low-profile tires with included spare tire and wheel, a wheeled tongue jack rated for minimum 800-pound capacity, and a frame of heavy-duty steel with powder coat and corrosion-resistant finish. The state specifically prioritizes products manufactured without mercury content. Deliveries are expected within three months of purchase order placement.
Bidders must submit bids electronically through the state's secure response system and complete a general specification form signed by an authorized representative, with written responses to all detailed specification sections and notation of any exceptions or additions. Bids must include warranty terms, shipping and delivery charges to Downeast Transportation Inc. in Ellsworth, Maine (prepaid by the contractor), and a proposal for parts and service availability with 95 percent availability within 48 hours. Vendors must either maintain parts inventory in Maine or provide parts availability within 48 hours of request.
Awards will be made to the best value, responsible bidder based on quality, conformity with specifications, delivery date, and ultimate cost to the state. Bidders may indicate willingness to accept orders from other state political subdivisions and school administrative districts at quoted prices. The state reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to increase or decrease quantities by up to 10%. Contact Terry L. DeMerchant, Procurement and Contracting Manager, at 207-624-7876 or terry.l.demerchant@maine.gov.
