About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) National Cemetery Administration is offering the Veterans Legacy Grants Program (VLGP) to provide funding for eligible entities to conduct cemetery research, produce educational materials, and promote community engagement related to the histories of veterans interred in national, state, or tribal veterans' cemeteries. Eligible applicants include institutions of higher learning, educational institutions, local educational agencies, and non-profit entities with 501(c)(3) status. The grant application will be evaluated based on the quality of educational materials, the content focused on the Veterans Legacy Memorial, outreach and community engagement strategies, the project team's expertise, and the budget narrative. The application deadline is April 21, 2025, with awards expected to be announced approximately 90 days later.
The VLGP will award between $250,000 and $400,000 to 6-9 eligible entities, with a total funding pool of $2.2 million. The 12-month project period must start in federal fiscal year 2025 (October 1, 2024-September 30, 2025). Projects should focus on developing grade-appropriate lesson plans, teaching historical research methods, conducting cemetery visits, and creating digital and non-digital community engagement strategies centered on veterans' histories.
