About this opportunity

The USGS Earthquake Hazards Program is soliciting external research support applications through May 23, 2024 to fund projects addressing earthquake hazards, source processes, hazard assessment, monitoring, and safety policy. Eligible applicants include unrestricted organizations and other entities to receive one-to-two year grants of $30,000 to $100,000 each through a competitive peer review process. Funded research should develop information and methods to assess and characterize earthquake hazards as well as monitor and report seismic activity while advancing equity and environmental justice priorities.

Anticipated total funding is $4-7 million to support 60-80 awards over one to two budget periods beginning between January and September 2025. Researchers will perform work under the Earthquake Hazards Program Assistance program to develop knowledge relevant to the program's assessment, characterization, monitoring and reporting on earthquake hazards elements.
