About this opportunity
This notice of funding opportunity from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention seeks applications to strengthen immunization program implementation in targeted sub-national areas across six countries. Eligible applicants may apply to work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Brazil, Indonesia, or the Philippines and must propose activities for at least one specified country component. The total estimated funding amount is $225 million over five years, with average annual awards ranging from $5 million to $10 million depending on the country. Applicants are encouraged to submit a country-specific proposed budget at or near the estimated first year funding level by the March 4, 2024 deadline. Performance will be monitored based on key outcome measures around identification and vaccination of underserved populations and achievement of disease control and elimination goals.
Up to 12 awards are expected to be provided through this opportunity, with an average annual award of $7.5 million. Estimated first year funding levels will range from $5 million for projects focusing on Brazil, Indonesia, and the Philippines, to $10 million for projects in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, and Nigeria. Recipients will be expected to work with governments within the target countries of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Brazil, Indonesia, or the Philippines to identify sub-national areas and strengthen immunization implementation.
Synopsis
The purpose of this NOFO is to increase immunization program capacity in high priority countries and targeted sub-national areas to identify underserved populations and develop tailored interventions to vaccinate underserved populations; implement comprehensive vaccine preventable disease (VPD) surveillance systems; improve preparedness and response to outbreaks of VPDs; and strengthen quality and sustainability of immunization delivery systems. This cooperative agreement will address targeted sub-national areas in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Brazil, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Applicants may apply to work in one or more countries and must indicate the country/countries in their application. Work conducted under this NOFO will be critical to achieve VPD control, elimination, and eradication targets (i.e., polio eradication, measles and rubella elimination, hepatitis B elimination, maternal and neonatal tetanus elimination) and more broadly reduce VPD-related morbidity and mortality.
