About this opportunity
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is soliciting cooperative agreement applications for injury prevention and control state and community-based programs through CFDA 93.136 (RFA-TP-18-000), with applications due September 30, 2030. Only one application will be funded per eligible state or territory, and applicants must have access to state or territory-wide data sources.
Eligible applicants are U.S. state governments or their bona fide agents, territorial governments or their bona fide agents, local governments or their bona fide agents, state-controlled institutions of higher education, and federally or state-recognized American Indian or Alaska Native tribal governments. Bona fide agents must provide legal binding agreement documentation from the sponsoring state, territory, or local government.
The program funds development, implementation, and promotion of evidence-based injury and violence prevention practices across priority domains including child abuse prevention, sexual violence prevention, firearm-related violence reduction, and overdose prevention. Applicants must demonstrate organizational capacity to implement proposed strategies across these domains.
Awards provide funding for 12-month budget periods with a performance period of up to five years, contingent on fund availability and satisfactory recipient progress. Typical annual award amounts range from $100,000 to $700,000, with most projects targeting 3–5 year implementation periods.
Review occurs in two phases. Phase 1 assesses eligibility and completeness; Phase 2 evaluates complete applications based on approach, evaluation and performance measurement capabilities, and organizational capacity. After initial awards, recipients demonstrating satisfactory progress may continue non-competitively if continued federal interest is established.
