About this opportunity

The Department of Transportation Maritime Administration (MARAD) is announcing the availability of approximately $450 million in FY 2025 Port Infrastructure Development Program (PIDP) discretionary grants. The program funds eligible projects that improve the safety, efficiency, or reliability of goods movement through ports and intermodal connections. Eligible applicants include states, local governments, port authorities, tribal governments, and special purpose districts. Projects must be located within port boundaries or directly related to port operations. Key evaluation criteria include safety improvements, economic vitality, federal funding leverage, and project readiness. Applications are due by April 30, 2025, with award announcements expected by November 14, 2025.

At least 25% ($112.5 million) of the available funding will be dedicated to small projects at small ports, with individual awards capped at $11.25 million. No single state can receive more than 25% of the total funding. The place of performance for these grants will be at the applicant's port facilities.
