About this opportunity

The Health Resources and Services Administration seeks applications for the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Leadership, Education, and Advancement in Undergraduate Pathways (LEAP) Training Program, with an application deadline of July 10, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Expected total available funding in FY 2026 is $775,000, with up to 5 grants awarded at $155,000 per year each over a five-year period of performance from September 30, 2026, to May 31, 2031. HRSA may provide administrative supplemental funding of up to $15,000 to one recipient annually to convene an annual recipient meeting, subject to appropriations availability. Indirect costs cannot exceed 8% of modified total direct costs.

Eligible applicants include domestic public or private nonprofit institutions of higher education, as well as Native American tribal governments and organizations that are public or private nonprofit institutions of higher learning. Project Directors must be faculty members employed at the applicant organization, dedicating at least 20% of their time to grant-related activities.

Core program requirements include recruiting and retaining at least 30 interdisciplinary undergraduate trainees annually (with at least 10 medium- or long-term trainees), designing a comprehensive MCH training curriculum, establishing a mentorship model with multidisciplinary mentors, developing MCH-related internship and experiential learning opportunities in rural and medically underserved areas, establishing academic-practice partnerships, forming an advisory committee, and implementing performance measurement and continuous quality improvement activities.

Applications are reviewed on six merit criteria: Need (10 points), Response (40 points), Performance Management (10 points), Impact (15 points), Resources and Capabilities (15 points), and Support Requested (10 points). Funding priorities award 2 points to applicants not currently funded by LEAP and 2 points to those never previously funded by LEAP. The program operates under CFDA 93.110 (Special Projects of Regional and National Significance). Applications must be submitted through Grants.gov.
