About this opportunity
The National Institutes of Health National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) is soliciting applications for the Impact of Genomic Variation on Function (IGVF) Data and Coordinating Center (DACC) cooperative agreement, with applications due December 14, 2026. Clinical trials are not allowed under this mechanism.
Eligible applicants include public and private higher education institutions, state and local governments, federally and non-federally recognized Indian tribal governments, 501(c)(3) nonprofits, for-profit organizations, small businesses, county governments, independent school districts, and public or Indian housing authorities. Non-domestic (non-U.S.) entities and foreign organizations are not eligible to apply. Foreign subawards and subcontracts are prohibited; unfunded international collaborations and foreign components are permitted.
The DACC will serve as the coordinating center for the IGVF Consortium, responsible for expanding and developing broadly accessible resources including a data portal and a comprehensive, searchable catalog of measured and predicted variant impacts. The center will solicit input from the research community on catalog design, organize and facilitate consortium activities, and identify collaboration opportunities with other programs and consortia. As an IGVF member, the DACC will work across all consortium members to maximize scientific impact and accelerate understanding of genomic variation.
The award instrument is a U24 cooperative agreement. Funding flows under Assistance Listing 93.172 (Human Genome Research). All applications will undergo scientific and technical merit review by subject matter experts and consideration by the NHGRI advisory council before award. Typical time from submission to award for cooperative agreements is approximately nine months. Applicants are encouraged to develop collaborative partnerships now to position themselves for the formal solicitation.
Synopsis
The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) is publishing a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to solicit applications for the Impact of Genomic Variation on Function (IGVF) Data and Coordinating Center (DACC). The DACC will serve as the coordinating center for the IGVF Consortium and will be responsible for expanding and further developing a broadly accessible set of resources, including a data portal and a comprehensive and searchable catalog of measured and predicted variant impacts. The DACC will also seek input on the design of the catalog from the broader research community, organize and facilitate consortium activities, and seek opportunities to work with other programs and consortia. As a member of IGVF, the DACC will work with all consortium members to maximize the consortium's overall scientific impact and contribute to accelerating understanding of genomic variation.
