About this opportunity
This Federal Grant Opportunity, RFA-DA-23-054, is part of the HEAL Initiative and seeks to fund translational research focused on addressing the overdose crisis and the intersection of pain and opioid use disorder. The funding opportunity is open to a wide range of applicant types, including tribal governments, higher education institutions, small businesses, and non-profits. Key objectives include developing and disseminating evidence-based interventions to reduce overdose deaths. The application deadline is December 16, 2024, and the opportunity is expected to run for 2 years (FY23 and FY24).
The funding for this opportunity is provided by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), specifically the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). Typical award values under this program range from smaller exploratory grants around $50,000 to large multi-year projects exceeding $3 million in total costs, with most awards falling between $400,000-$800,000. The research activities are generally expected to be conducted at the facilities of the recipient organizations across the United States.
Synopsis
This RFA will act as a parent RFA for the HEAL initiative Translation to Practice Team, specifically encouraging translational dissemination and implementation research focused on addressing overdose deaths and the intersection of pain and OUD. This RFA will function in tandem with targeted NOSIs that announce more specific areas of focus. For FY23, this currently includes the Workforce NOSI (formerly an RFA) and the Violence and Trauma NOSI (also formerly an RFA). It has a companion R61/R33 RFA and is expected to run for 2 years (FY23 and FY24)
