About this opportunity
The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is seeking applications for its Fiscal Year 2025 Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator Safety Training (CMVOST) grant program. The grant aims to support organizations that provide commercial motor vehicle (CMV) operator training, including accredited public or private colleges, universities, vocational-technical schools, post-secondary educational institutions, truck driver training schools, associations, and state and local governments, including Federally recognized Native American Tribal governments. Eligible applicants must be accredited by a U.S. Department of Education recognized agency or approved by the Department of Labor as an eligible training provider. Applications must demonstrate compliance with Title VI civil rights regulations and are due by June 20, 2025.
The FMCSA anticipates awarding approximately $3.4 million in total funding, with individual awards ranging from $100,000 to $200,000. The grant program prioritizes training for current/former military personnel, underserved communities, and refugees, focusing on enhancing commercial driver's license (CDL) holder training to reduce commercial motor vehicle crashes across the United States. The typical places of performance for these grants include community colleges and vocational training centers nationwide.
