About this opportunity

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is soliciting applications for Fiscal Year 2026 State Fire Training Systems Grants to fund direct delivery of National Fire Academy courses and training materials to state fire and emergency response personnel, with applications due July 31, 2026. Eligibility is restricted to state fire training systems designated by state legislation or governor's declaration as the sole state fire service training agency within the state; one application per state is permitted, with no subapplicants allowed. Total funding available is $1,000,000, with an expected $20,000 award per state to 50 noncompetitive recipients. Indirect costs are not allowed. Grant funds must be used exclusively for delivering NFA-approved, enfranchised courses with national focus; recipients may allocate up to 5 percent of the award ($1,000) for management and administration costs and up to $20,000 for direct course delivery costs including instructor fees, printing materials, and facility use. The period of performance runs October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027. Recipients must submit quarterly financial and performance reports documenting courses held and students trained, with a final closeout report due 120 days after the performance period ends. The Assistance Listing number is 97.043. Applicants must register with System for Award Management (SAM.gov) and FEMA Grants Outcomes (FEMA GO) before submission. The anticipated award date is August 31, 2026. Non-federal entities expending one million dollars or more in federal awards during their fiscal year must submit a single audit report in accordance with 2 CFR Part 200.
