About this opportunity

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is soliciting applications for the Fiscal Year 2026 Farmers Market Promotion Program (FMPP), which supports the development, coordination, and expansion of direct producer-to-consumer agricultural markets to increase access to locally and regionally produced products. Eligible applicants include agricultural businesses, nonprofits, food councils, local governments, producer networks, CSA associations, cooperatives, economic development corporations, and tribal governments operating within the 50 U.S. states and U.S. territories. Applications will be evaluated through a three-step merit review process assessing initial eligibility and completeness, technical merit based on alignment with program intent, technical feasibility, achievability, partner expertise, and fiscal planning, and administrative review of organizational capacity and risk. Priority consideration is given to applications serving low-income or low food access communities or working under Regional Food Systems Partnership agreements. All applications must be submitted electronically via Grants.gov by 11:59 PM Eastern Time on June 5, 2026, and must include SF-424 and SF-424A forms, a project narrative using required templates, cost share verification letters, letters of commitment from partners, and evidence of critical infrastructure when applicable.

Approximately $13.84 million in federal funding is available for four project types with varying award ranges: Capacity Building ($50,000-$250,000 over 36 months), Community Development Training and Technical Assistance ($100,000-$500,000 over 36 months), Turnkey Marketing and Promotion ($50,000-$100,000 over 24 months), and Turnkey Recruitment and Training ($50,000-$100,000 over 24 months). All applicants must provide a 25 percent cost share in cash or in-kind contributions, and projects must be implemented within the United States and its territories. Based on 2025 funding data, approximately 16.5 percent of eligible applications were funded with an average award of approximately $11.1 million distributed across all funded projects.
