About this opportunity
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food and Nutrition Service is seeking applicants for the FY 2025 Farm to School Implementation Grant. The objective of this grant is to improve access to local foods in eligible Child Nutrition Program sites through comprehensive farm to school programming that includes both local sourcing and agricultural education efforts. Eligible applicants include schools, tribal organizations, agricultural producers, non-profit entities, and local agencies, but exclude state agencies. Applications must be submitted by January 10, 2025, and will be evaluated based on factors such as comprehensive project design, strength of partnerships, and outcomes for underserved communities.
The Farm to School Implementation Grant provides 24-month awards of up to $500,000, with applicants required to contribute at least 25% of the total project budget in the form of cash or in-kind matching support. The grant program aims to fund approximately 75 projects across the country, with a total funding amount of $5 million. The grants can be used to launch new farm to school initiatives or expand existing efforts focused on increasing local food availability and agricultural education in schools.

The objective of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 Farm to School Implementation Grant is to improve access to local foods in eligible CNP sites through comprehensive farm to school programming that includes both local sourcing and agricultural education efforts. Project proposals should incorporate both elements of the required objective.
The Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 Farm to School Implementation Grant awards projects of 24 months in length for funding up to $500,000. Applicants are required to provide matching support of at least 25 percent of the total project budget in the form of cash or in-kind contributions. Eligible applicants for the Implementation grant may include schools and other institutions that operate Child Nutrition Programs, Indian Tribal Organizations, agricultural producers or groups of agricultural producers, non-profit entities, and local agencies.
