About this opportunity
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is soliciting cooperative agreement applications to strengthen global health security in Tanzania through implementation of the Global Health Security Agenda, with applications due October 2, 2026.
Eligible applicants include state and local governments, institutions of higher education (public and private), nonprofits (501(c)(3) and non-501(c)(3)), for-profit organizations, small businesses, foreign entities, tribal governments and organizations, and special district governments. Work must be conducted in Tanzania.
The CDC expects to award 2 to 3 cooperative agreements totaling approximately $3,000,000 in Year 1 funding. Component-based funding is offered: Component 1 (Core Global Health Security Priorities) carries a $1,000,000 ceiling and will be funded initially; Components 2 and 3 (Rapid Small-Scale and Large-Scale Response to Infectious Disease Outbreaks) each have $2,000,000 ceilings but are approved pending future fund availability. Applicants must apply for all three components with separate budgets and work plans for each. The award period consists of five 12-month budget periods with an expected start date of October 30, 2026.
Programs must address biosurveillance system strengthening networked to information-sharing platforms; emergency operation center capacity at national and subnational levels; national laboratory capabilities with biosafety and biosecurity best practices for detecting outbreaks, antimicrobial resistance, and zoonotic diseases; timely reporting of disease emergencies to relevant authorities; and workforce development including trained disease detectives and laboratory scientists.
Merit review scores applications on background and approach (30 points), evaluation and performance measurement plan (35 points), and organizational capacity (35 points). Applicants meeting the local partner definition receive a 15-point funding preference. Required materials include a one-page project summary, 30-page project narrative, budget narrative, SF-424 forms, and supporting documentation of organizational capacity and Tanzania experience. The opportunity is listed under CFDA 93.318.
Synopsis
