About this opportunity
The National Institutes of Health is soliciting applications to access Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) Cohort data and biospecimen resources for ancillary studies in maternal and child health, with an application due date of March 1, 2028. Clinical trials are not permitted under this X01 activity code.
Eligible applicants include small businesses, for-profit organizations, higher education institutions (public and private), state and local governments, county and tribal governments (federally recognized and non-federally recognized tribal organizations), 501(c)(3) and non-501(c)(3) nonprofits, independent school districts, public or Indian housing authorities, faith-based or community-based organizations, eligible federal agencies, and U.S. territory or possession entities. Non-domestic entities and foreign components of U.S. organizations are not eligible.
The ECHO Cohort dataset integrates longitudinal data from more than 130,000 maternal and child participants across the U.S., including prenatal and child environmental exposures. The Biorepository contains over 100,000 biospecimen samples, including blood and urine. Proposed ancillary studies must investigate high-priority areas of maternal and child health by examining exposures from natural, built, physical, chemical, social, behavioral, and biological environments, and explore outcomes including pre-, peri-, and postnatal outcomes, upper and lower airway, obesity, neurodevelopment, and positive health or well-being. Applicants must elucidate pathways linking exposures to outcomes.
Applications will be reviewed for scientific and technical merit by a scientific review group and for program relevance by a national advisory council. The review cycle is four to nine months. This opportunity is funded under the Trans-NIH Research Support program (CFDA 93.310). No cost share or matching requirement is stated in the source material.
Synopsis
The purpose of this Program Announcement with Special Receipt, Referral, and/or Review Considerations (PAR) is to solicit applications to access limited identifiable data or biospecimens from the ECHO Cohort to study high-priority areas of maternal and child health.
