About this opportunity
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is soliciting cooperative agreement applications to fund Building National Partnerships for the Prevention of Emerging and Reemerging Infectious Diseases, with applications due July 1, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.
Eligible applicants include state, county, city/township, and tribal governments; public and private institutions of higher education; nonprofits (501(c)(3) and non-501(c)(3)); for-profit organizations; faith-based organizations; Community Health Centers; and small businesses. Cost-sharing is not required.
The CDC expects to distribute approximately $150 million across approximately 30 awards over five years, with an approximate total award of $1 million per recipient. Annual per-applicant funding is $20,000 for Component 1 (Programmatic Infrastructure and Capacity, required), $100,000 each for Component 2 (Emerging and Reemerging Pathogens, up to 15 awards) and Component 3 (Antimicrobial Resistance and Healthcare-Associated Infections, up to 15 awards), and funding to be determined for Component 4 (Outbreak and Emergency Response). The performance period runs five years in 12-month budget cycles, with expected award date August 31, 2026 and program start September 30, 2026.
Applicants must apply for Component 1 plus at least one additional component, each with separate work plans and budgets. The program supports infrastructure development, workforce training, infection prevention and control, antimicrobial resistance prevention, healthcare facility resilience, and surge capacity for emergency response. The project narrative is scored on 100 points: Background and Approach (50 points), Evaluation and Performance Measurement Plan (25 points), and Organizational Capacity (25 points). Applicants should dedicate approximately 5–10 percent of project funding to monitoring and evaluation. Component 4 recipients may be placed in approved but unfunded status until the CDC identifies a qualifying public health threat.
